Xerxes tightened his belt, and the red cloth around his neck and lower face. His cape flew in the cold wind, and he ignored the chilling cold coming from the bare spot on his chest. He had his weapons attached to the back of his belt, the gold skull buckle keeping it all on him.
How long has it been since I saw Lizara? A year? Two? Three?
He sighed. He had given up on her, and didn't care for anyone anymore. His footsteps were covered as he walked, letting his skin turn to snake scales, then back to human flesh as his boredome grew.

Nelete had herself pressed again a burrow entrance, her arms jammed in as far as it would go. She really didn’t want to shift to get the marmot out. She’d called to it several times, but it wasn’t coming. A squirrel dropped onto her shoulder from a branch as she sat back. It chattered to her and she nodded. It zipped into the burrow.
Several minutes passed and then the squirrel came out, followed by a very sick and badly injured marmot. Nel gently took the injured animal into her lap and began to clean the long gash on its side. She numbed the pain so that she wouldn’t have to hear the poor animal’s cries. Once the injury was clean, she went into a trace to eradicate any residual infection and healed the wound but left the hair to grow back on its own. Nel rested before standing and meeting up with a wolf pack a few minutes later, the squirrel riding on her shoulder.

Xerxes's assassin instincts picked up, and his eyes focused on a figure in the distance. He jumped into a tree easily, and looked closer. He flicked with his seperated tongue, getting facts on the other.
A girl, healed an animal. This will be fun.
He smirked, and jumped down, landing in the snow. He bagan following her scent, flicking his serpant tongue every so often to make sure he was following the right trail.

Nel knelt in the snow and wrestled with some of the wolves. They led her to their den, up a narrow trail to a cave in a cliff side. The pups rushed out, greeted the pack, and then tackled Nel. She laughed softly and began to play with them. She shifted into a wolf form with a white pelt and the same bright green eyes. The pack was even more comfortable with her in a wolf form and left her in charge of the pups while they went hunting. Nel was happy to stay and play with the pups.

Xerxes scented the air with his tongue again.
Damn it. Lost her scent...
He stopped a moment, flicking his tongue, trying to catch the nearest scent. His blood red eyes focused on everything, then smirked, catching the scent again.
Bingo...

Nel got to know all of the pups, what they liked to do, what they didn’t like to do, and their favorite foods. They were energetic little fluff balls. Eventually, they wanted to go outside, so Nel shifted to her elf form and carried two pups down at a time until all seven pups were romping in the snow. It was harder to keep an eye on them, but they never strayed too far from her.

Xerxes got closer, grinning. His red eyes had pain and suffering in them for his prey, and he jumped into a tree, his eyes focusing on Nelete.
Damn it, it's a girl...
That was one thing he could never tell. He sighed to himself, his eyes staying on her.

A pup wandered off and smelled Xerxes in the tree. He began to yap loudly up at him, growling as threateningly as possible. Nel got up from the knot of the other pups and they ran up the path and into the cave. She trotted off to find the pup and shifted to carry him in her arms. He thrashed in her arms, snarling up the tree. She looked up too, already beginning to back off.

Xerxes smirked.
Showtime.
He lept down, his face facing the ground. He smirked, and stood up from his crouching position. His weapons were still on his belt, and his red eyes focused on her. His torn cape blew infront of him as the wind blew, and he pushed back, so it blew against his back.
"Hello."
He said, his voice mixing with a serpant's hiss.

The pup's growling turned to enraged howling. Nel wrapped a hand around his muzzle and pinned his body so that he wouldn't thrash anymore. She looked up at Xerxes and just looked for a long time.
"Hello." She replied after some time had passed.

"I'm just curious to know."
Xerxes started, his hand ready to grab one of his daggers.
"Have you ever met death in the face? Or, perhaps... an assassin?"
His eyes showed evil in them, even if Nel was a woman. To Xerxes; it was all the same.
"Because, if you haven't, you just have..."

Nel took another step back as large white wings grew from her back. Two snowy owls lighted on the branches near their heads.
"I fight death." Nel replied carefully in a low voice. “I tend to win.”
The pup leapt from her arms and scampered back to his littermates. The owls watched them. Nel had their wings.

Xerxes couldn't help but chuckle.
"Not this time."
He let his flesh become scales, and his eyes became more beady. They focused on her, and he grinned, normal human teeth replaced with large fangs. His clothes ripped as he grew, and when the transformation was complete, he looked like a giant lizard. He had a tail, and it picked up his weapons. He put the sword in his mouth, daggers in her hand, and a 4 sided dagger held by his tail. He grinned.
"Ladies first."

“But you’re amazing. You’re form is different and intriguing and you have many talents, even if you namely use them for killing.” She said, using diplomacy before any rash actions took place. “And I don’t like fighting. I don’t like killing.”

Xerxes snorted.
"You're taking the fun out of it..."
He replied, flipping his sword around in his jaw. He flipped his daggers as well, thoughts running about his mind. He kept them away, remembering the assassin code.
Don't let her get to you.
He thought, raising his daggers. Xerxes closed his eyes, then reopened them, his eyes glowing. He jumped into the air, and lunged at her.

"Fun?" Nel was disgusted. "Where is the fun in death?"
She watched him and turned full golden eagle. Hopping awkwardly in the snow, she gained minimal air and avoid him, rising above him. For now, that's all she would do. Avoid him.

Xerxes snorted again.
"I meant fun in actually chasing you."
He snickered to himself, then jumped into the air easily. He had second thoughts, and instead of stabbing her with the dagger, he let himself land again. He shifted back, his clothes regrowing on him.
"You aren't worth me time."
He stated, brushing snow off his clothes. To him, she wasn't. He had lost an interest for killing for fun, or even money. He had enough, and was still debating over just tagging along his sister a lot now, or stay with the assassins.

~ Then why waste energy on me? ~ She asked, lighting beside one of the owls. She didn't quite trust him to just give up.
The pack came back. Their muzzles covered in blood. They looked at Xerxes, Nel, and the owls and then around again. The alpha male kept a close eye on him. He considered Nel part of his pack.

Xerxes looked back at the wolves, then Nel. He sighed.
"To admit it, ever since I learned I had a sister, I'm not much of an assassin."
He sighed, and kicked the snow.
"Some King of Death I am."

~ It is good to have a family though. I lost mine over four hundred years ago. ~ Nel replied, drifting to the ground and shifting so that the wolves could greet her and she could disappear under multiple bodies of moving fur. "Have you spent any time with her?"

"No. I follow her around ever so often, but, that's because my senses tell me something will happen to her eventually. Unless she dies, or finds a man, I'm always gonna tag along with her in bars and such."
Xerxes's gaze moved to the sky, and his red eyes stared unblinkingly at the sky.

“It is good that you look after her though.” Nel called from under the wolves. “I don’t go to those places. I stay away from civilization as much as possible. They have too much meat there.”
Nel surfaced from the wolves and met the face of a snow leopard with two cubs. The wolf pups came back and then all of the adults left, leaving her with the young again. She shifted to a Siberian Tiger and played with the cubs and the pups.

Xerxes nodded, and remembered how much Reia loved cats. He couldn't help but smile. His pupils then dialated, and he looked around, flicking his tongue.
"Someone's near..."
He muttered. He scented anger.
"Get the cubs and pups into the cave. Now!"
He yelled, withdrawing his daggers, ready to protect. Something he rarely did for anyone.

Lizara sighed, walking down sulkingly from a hill. "Haven't seen my X for a long time... I almost gave up on him." She brushed her hair back and looked up into the sky. "Most of the time, I would just give up and continue on with my life, but he should be here somewhere. I must not be looking hard enough."
(Karita said it was alright if I could post here, but i'm not sure about you, Kilian. I hope it's fine.)

(No! It's not okay! ... I'm just kidding! I'm fine with it! ) The pups didn’t need any further prompting to leave. Nel picked up the smaller cub and carried it up to the cave, the bigger one followed after her. She left them together in the cave and trotted down the path again to help watch. The young were her responsibility and that didn’t mean she could leave Xerxes to fight… if it came to that.
