He was frowning, "I'm sorry... I didn't know it would do that, then again, I never had anyone come here with me." He smiled weakly, then offered his hand to lead her down the rest of the wet, murky hall to the light.

She shrugged. "It was interesting... but not thrilling." She replied and poked his side. "If you're going to pull me into a run, I'd rather have my hands free, thank you. But if you're not... maybe I'll take your hand again." She poked his side again.

"I won't run, unless you don't want to miss the first fight." He looked back as the sound of metal meeting rang out.

“I thought I said I wanted my hands free for running… Maybe it was my wording…” She thought about it, listening to the fight. “If they do more than one, then there’s no need to rush, correct?”

"No, I suppose not. They drag some unsuspecting visiter into tghe ring with some champion. It's funny." He nodded to it and headed out, "They have a table specially reserved for us."

“Oh…” Lilis said and took a few strides to catch up with Verse. She slipped her arm through his again. “I’m sorry if I seem irritable. I’m sorry if I’m raining on your parade. I don’t mean too, but I won’t try to come up with an excuse to cover for it.”

He smiled to her, "I understand. If you feel at all ill tonight, do tell me. I'll help you get back to rest." He was really worried about her health. Once they reached the light, a great colosseum erupted in front, two men fighting below them as they stood on a rampart. The seating, four chairs around tables and many filled with people, swooped down to the area part. He led her down a ways and under a shaded table ad pulled her seat out.

Lilis let her features smooth out and slowly sat in the chair that Verse offered her. She found it odd that someone was being so nice to her. In truth, it terrified her. She didn’t really understand why Verse did it, even though he’d told her.
“Thanks.” She managed to remember to say.

"If I'm making you uncomfortable, do tell me." He sat across from her and smiled, then watched the men fight.

She blinked, looked at him, and then looked into the arena. “No, you just confuse me.” She said softly as she analyzed the fighters. “What did you think of Ambrose?”

"Uh... I dunno, really. He seems alright..." Verse said thoughtfully.

“He’s a Slayer, but he’s revising his outlook on people like us.” She told him. “I’m glad he’s back. I thought he still hated me when he left with his brother. And since you’re going to be working with me, I’ll have two reasons to take a break.”

He smiled, "Glad to be of help."
A server came to them, "Can I get you anything?"
"Ale, please." He smiled to the young girl.

“Eh,” she shrugged and then scowled at the server. Kaie chose the perfect moment to come back and she made a public appearance before disappearing into Lilis. “Blood thinned with wine.” She responded tartly but reduced her scowl to a slight frown. “If you have that, I want rare meat, juices intact.”

Se blinked as she wrote, without even looking. She flinched from her words and scurried off.
Verse frowned deeply, "What was that for?"

Lilis fidgeted in her seat and grumbled quietly. Kaie made her feel a little better, but not much more so. Now over the awkwardness with Verse, nervousness settled into Lilis. Unless she could inspect new places before being in them, she wasn’t really comfortable in them. She tried to calm down, but she was already on high alert.
“Sorry. It’s nothing.” She said and fidgeted again.

He leaned into her, "Is anything... wrong?"

Lilis stiffened, suddenly bristling against Verse. “Please don’t touch me.” She whispered tightly. “I’ll be fine… eventually.”

Verse flinched from her, then moved as far away, without her realizing it, from her, "S-sorry..."

“It’s not you. I’m sorry.” She said softly. “It’s mine.”
Lilis pulled her hood up and rested her head on her arms. A few minutes passed and Kaie came back. She wasn’t happy and borderline Apocalyptic. She growled while settling her gaze on Verse.
What is the matter with my host!? She has never denied me before.

Verse blinked, then shrugged, mouthing, 'I have no idea what I did, sorry'.

Kaie growled and stood beside Lilis. That was all she could do. Lilis had forced her out and had cut off their connection so that Kaie couldn’t search her mind.
She’ll make it up to you. She’ll feel like she’s ruined everything and that she absolutely has to make it up to you. Kaie told him and poked Lilis’ shoulder. Covert operative, no wonder you’re jumpy.

Lilis straightened, her eyes softly glowing of light purple. “I’m sorry, but I’ll explain afterwards. There are too many people to listen here.” She said quietly and looked around the room. “The simple version though, I’m nervous.”

His frown deepened, "Think we're in trouble here...?" He looked around himself, his hand going to his dagger.
