"Sure, why not. I have nothing better to do." she said in almost a sing song tone. She was deeply excited but she had refused to show emotion, and she looked her normal depressed empty self. She looked to him to see what was next.

Gabriel gently took Maemi's hand and teleported to the front door of a huge manor. He led her up to the door and opened it. He held it open for her.
"This is my manor. It's second only to Ceit's." Gabriel said and watched her.

She entered the humongous house and waited to be lead by her host to another area. She examined all the fine things, and looked at all the amazing things in his posession. "You have a very nice home." she said in awe, she live in the grave yard at the moment, where she slept in a spare coffin in the care takers office.

"It suits it's purpose." Gabriel replied flippantly. "Do you have any hobbies?" Gabriel asked as he took her by her arm and led her down the main hallway and paused at the base of the grand staircase in the foyer.

"I practice a bit of magic here and there, but I left the kestal training camp before my training was complete. I didn't feel like it was worth it." she explained. She formed a fireball in her hand as an example then put it out. "I like to read a bit sometimes, when I get ahold on a good book." she said softly.

"Oh good!" And Gabriel led her past the staircase. "Then I'll just show you a few of my libraries. They're quite extensive."
He led her down the corridor on the right of the staircase and to the end of the staircase. He opened the door to room, revealing a huge, one-story library. A fire burned on the opposite side of the room, giving it a cozy feel. A head poked around the corner of a chair.
"Oh, so you brought another home. Who is it this time?" The irritable sounding man walked up to Gabriel and Maemi.
"Ize, this is Maemi. She's insisting that she's worse of than I was after Araceli."
Ize nodded and held out a hand. "Pleasure, I suppose, to meet you. If you're looking for a book, hollar. I know where most of them are... in all of Gabe's libraries. He has about six you know."

"Really?" asked Maemi in a fake non-emphasized voice, she was trying not to show her excitement. "Yes pleasure Ize." she said nodding coldly. She wasn't very friendly towards most people, but she was glad she came, maybe she could find a wonderful book to keep her mind of the hunger and emptiness. Just maybe.

"Well, I leave you in Ize's good care. He does know where most of my books are." Gabriel said and gave Maemi a small bow before leaving.
Ize gave Maemi a calculating look and raised an eyebrow. "So girl, what do you like to read?"

"Adventure, Mystery, Romance." she said nonchalantly. She had a way with hiding emotions that most people couldn;t dream of accomplishing. She had been like this even before the "Disease" had laid it's hand apon her.

Ize raised an eyebrow and then motioned for her to follow him. "Mystery and Romance are located in the second floor libraries. Adventure is found on the fifth floor library." He explained and led her up the grand staircase. "Gabe has filled his llibraries with books, he has more in the basement too, but I don't think he's even read half of them yet."

"I see." said Maemi in a heaven where she could live out the rest of her life and still have not read all the books at her very finger tips. She said, "Do you have any suggestion?" she had no idea where to start.

Ize shrugged. "It all depends on what you're really in the mood to read. Gabriel's been around, as a vampire, for about seven hundred years. He's had this manor for a little less than that... after... well... he lost someone." Ize looked over his shoulder at Maemi. "This house came with books, he added to them, but he doesn't care to take the time for them. He does occasionally though."

"If you don't mind me being nosy, who did he lose? His wife, love, girl friend, mother?" she asked, that's all she could think of. She had always been a nosy girl, but with her lonlieness she drove to know lots of things about others, and their lives. She tried everything to keep from thinking about her own lonely life.

"Well," Ize winced, "I think, if you want to talk about it, you'd better be talking to him. Her name was Araceli though. There's a picture of her in his room and here." He pointed to a portrait of a woman with white-ish hair, red eyes, and blue lipstick on her lips at the top of the staircase. "Let's just say they were a hair away from committing forever."

"I see." said Maemi sadly, maybe his heart was too broken to love her. She didn't know why but an attraction had been growing within her. She wanted love, that's what was missing. Could he be the one she was searching for. "So, what about you, are you a friend of his from long ago or a new one?" she asked being her absent minded self.

"Depends on how you classify long ago and new. I've known Gabe for a little over three hundred years. I've been living with him for a little less though." Ize replied. "Uh-oh... um..."
Ize grabbed Maemi's elbow and hurried her into a room. Another vampire came by. She looked similar to Araceli, but her features were harsher and her eyes were glittering emeralds. She stopped before Ize, boring holes into him.
"You know that Gabe brought a girl home!" She snapped angrily and didn't wait for a reply. "And what are you doing out of the History Library? I thought you'd be spending the next few days there!"
Ize shrugged and waved a hand through the air. "I was getting bored with the book I was reading. It was moving slow... so I'm going to go to a different library... where the books are easier to read."
The vampire gave him a cold, measuring look and continued on. Once she was out of sight and earshot, he opened the door and let Maemi out.
"Sorry Mae. Angel's in a tizzy." He apologized and waved her on again. "So, about those libraries... Oh! Do you have any other questions?"

"Yeah," said Maemi, "Who was that?" she asked in a scared tone. she looked at the girl and then back to Ize with a curious look. She hoped that it wasn;t his girlfriend or wife.

"Just Angel. Don't worry. She was just jealous because Gabe invited you over to the libraries." Ize replied and smiled reassuringly. "She wants to be his girlfriend, lover, mate... whatever. He only thinks of her as a companion in his household. That makes her angry and she hates seeing Araceli's pictures."

"I think the picture's beautiful. It makes me want to have known the person in it, and be able to know everything about her." said Maemi truly. The painting hyonotized her thoughts making her think about who she was, what she was like, and how she had loved Gabe so much.

"I never knew her, but Gabe said she was like a rose. Soft and beautiful petals but armed with sharp thorns. He talks very fondly of her, even now. I don't know if he'll ever be able to find a love again."

"I'm sure one as handsome as him could find love again." she said softly. She wanted him to be hers, but why. Why all of the sudden had these feelings arisen from her very soul, as though it were meant to be. But it could be her heart playing tricks, it had never done this before. In most cases she would be an old maid being twenty nine and never have been married. She was very much virginal, and never been kissed. Love had always been the farthest thing from her mind, but why now?

Ize looked back at her, brows raised. "That's why Angel is here and I think that Celeste has a private love for him too. Gabe's had many chances at love." He looked forward again and continued softly. "He doesn't notice them and he doesn't seem to care."

"I see." said Maemi her hope drifting away, more coldness inhabiting her body. "Well, I guess that's what I get for even allowing such ideas to enter my head." thought Maemi to herself as she examined a book that caught her eye. It was a large black book. It lookes very ancient and had no title on it's cover. Maemi opened it, it seemed to be a journal.

"Gabriel is going to kill her." Ize said, noticing what Maemi was looking at. "I thought he had that locked in his room? That's Araceli's journal... diary... whatever you want to call it. If you want to read it you'd have to ask him."
As it happens, Gabriel walked up behind Maemi and looked over her shoulder. He looked down at the book and all emotion drained from him completely.
“If you’d like to get into people’s thoughts, Maemi, Araceli is a good choice.” He said softly. “If you find that interesting after the first few pages, you may continue to read it. I was just bringing you and Ize some supper... or a snack. Celeste collected tonight. I must speak to Angel now.”
Gabriel left two flasks of blood with Ize and walked off down a hallway. Ize just stared after him, open-mouthed. He turned then and stared at Maemi.
“He has to have some sort of feeling for you… He’s never offered to let anyone read Araceli’s journal, not me, not Celeste, and I think he may kill Angel now. Wow…”
