Lilis pushed him away some so that she could feel his forehead. She pulled her gloves off and stuck a white fingertip on his lower lip and opened his mouth. She looked down his throat and sniffed. She counted his pulse and assessed his temperature.
“Can you talk?” Lilis asked the boy, John, she recalled.

"A li'le..." John said very quietly.
Burris moved to the back of the tent, giving her room to work closer to John. The troll sat, legs crossed, and he watched.

"Can you tell me everywhere it hurts?" She asked him gently with a smile as she pulled off her cloak, revealing her long, white hair and ice blue eyes.

"My neck...and chest..." He coughed. He moved the blanket from his neck and showed his infected neck, white spots on his skin from his neck and his chest. Burris flinched and looked away.

Lilis raised a brow. "Hm, well, that doesn't look like strep. Can I bite your finger? Please? It'll only hurt for a little bit and I promise to heal it afterwards. I might be able to get a better idea of what you've got if I can taste your blood."

"Alright..." He offered a sweating hand.
Burris looked worried, "Be careful with him, please..."

Lilis took his hand and held out the index finger. She slit the first digit with a fang and stuck the finger in her mouth. She sucked a couple of times and then ran her tongue over the cut, healing it. Lilis smiled and put his hand back on the bed.
"You should try sleeping some more." She murmured to him.

He coughed and nodded, closing his eyes.
Burris stood and looked worriedly to her, "What is it? Is it bad? Will he live? Please say yes."

Lilis turned to Burris with a look of forced patience. She stood up and pulled him out of the tent with her before talking to him.
"I do not know." She said very slowly. "I've never encountered this before. We could try some natural remedies or I could just go ahead and heal him. But that's up to you."

Burris thought, chewing on his nails. After a few minutes, he looked at her, "What's the cost of the healing? Like, energy? A soul? Anything?"

"The cost of healing... I get tired and wear myself out. But it is best if your boy sleeps for a few days afterwards, waking up intermitently to relieve himself and perhaps to have some medicinal tea or broth. Price, though, well, it's free."

Burris smiled brightly, "I offer my eternal gratitude." He bowed to her, "I cannot thank you enough."

Lilis felt irritated and brushed off his gratitude. "Yeah, save it. I'm not doing anything special." She then stabbed her finger at the ground. "You wait here, or better yet, make a soup."

Burris scoffed, then walked over to a tree where he had hung some rabbits they caught before John became sick. He took three to the fire and he worked on getting it started again.

Lilis watched before entering the tent again. She knelt beside John and gripped his left shoulder in one hand while laying the other on top of his throat. She closed her eyes and concentrated on the illness in the boy's body.
Kaie was still outside. She looked around and then moved closer to Burris. She sat down, just watching him.

John gasped and arched his back at her hand on his neck. He coughed more and grimaced.
Burris took out a flask of broth and he poured into a tin pot, then looked up a Kaie. He looked back to his lap, skinning the rabbit, " What?"

Lilis hummed softly and stroked the boy’s hair. She was deep inside a trance as she worked to heal him. It was likely she would ignore everyone, except the boy, unless they tried to interrupt her.
Nothing. I’m just watching. You mortals are pretty interesting, well sometimes. The demon replied, still watching him.

John calmed, his coughing lessened, his breathing calmer and his pain went away. Her humming soothed him into sleep.
Burris chuckled, "Mortal eh? Heh, if only the rest of the world saw me a such." He cut chuncks of the rabbit meat and tossed it into the broth.

Lilis checked to make sure the infection was gone and built a false immunity to it so that he couldn't get it again. Once she finished, she collapsed on the ground, pulling her cloak over her head and went into a rest cycle.
Come with Lilis to the Nether Realms and all of the demons will call you that. Kaie replied with a grin. Would Ryhe have tried to kill Lilis?

John opened his eyes when he felt her hand relax. He felt better, his neck and chest normal. He still flet hot, so, he closed his eyes to sleep it off.
Burris nodded, "If she tried to kill us, then yes. He's a very good bodyguard, I don't know why he doesn't get a job as one."

Kaie laughed, a nasty sound. To kill he would have had to catch her and then do it right. Lilis is very hard to kill, I make it harder.

Burris sighed,"Ryhe would have made a hell of an effort though. He has.... a bit of a temper problem. You might say, he's a real animal."

Lilis has survived wars, assassinations, and countless scuffles in over two hundred years to let anyone kill her. She makes a good partner. Kaie grinned and tossed her head.I bet you won’t believe it, but there was a time when I wasn’t Kaie and the Heiress to clan. I still am the Heiress, I just share the title with her. Lilis saved my immortal piece when my mortal pieces were being destroyed. You can kill a demon, per say, it’ll just create a new form and perhaps take a host until the form is matured. Lilis understands, but my form is mature now and I don’t want to leave. I enjoy the freedom Lilis lets me have.

Burris took a minute to let that sink, "So... how did you two met? Better yet, how did you fuse?" He was curious as to how they seemed to be the same person.

I used to be Deliandra, Dev’s older sister. I met Lilis when she took a suicide mission of revenge by my family clan. I had been… I guess you could call it poisoned and it was destroying me. Kaie recalled and watched Burris closely. I constructed a new form and the fusing process is pretty simple, though not without great pain. Lilis could have screamed, but she took it all with glassy shock. Fusing is basically forcing the immature form into its host. Anything I overlooked or do you have more questions?
