Lilis watched for a few minutes and then teleported closer. She watched Verse uncertainly. He had tried to… Does that really matter? Lilis moved closer and touched Verse’s shoulder, but in a more concerned manner than she had at Lorn’s place.
“Verse?”

Verse roared, turning his face to her. It was normal, save the larger fangs and glowing eyes. He grabbed her arm and tried to flip her over his head.

Lilis gritted her teeth to keep from crying out. As Verse tossed her through the air, she didn't enjoy the weightless feeling at all. Kaie roared too, emerging from Lilis and landing on the ground with a small cloud of dust. No one ever damaged her host and friend.

Verse grinned and sniffed Lilis. He purred lightly and picked her up, throwing the vampiress over his shoulder and stalking away.

Kaie hissed. She swiped at Verse's back legs to trip him up. She didn't like be ignored anymore than Lilis and she really wanted her partner back, whole. Lilis wasn't really enjoying the ride much herself... but she'd bide her time for now.

Verse hissed out as he fell back and he panted. His long fangs receded and his eyes went back to normal, some blood slipping from, the back of his head. He cut it and the draining of his blood drained his madness as well.

Lilis rolled away from Verse and crab-crawled under Kaie. The demoness hissed at Verse for good measure and lowered herself protectively over Lilis. Lilis lay back in the dirt and looked through Kaie's body at the stars. She closed her eyes.

Verse coughed, "Told you... yo...uh...." His head went limp as he passed out.

Lilis sat up and watched Verse as Kaie merged back into her. She looked up at the stars again. She was still going to stay.

Verse calmed down, much better now that the inner clansmen forced out and was tired himself.

Getting bored just sitting beside Verse, Lilis collected some stones and rocks from the ruins. She set them in the dirt so that she wouldn't disturb Verse and began to "build" with them. She laid out various places that she'd been to in her life, trying to recreate what the place had looked like. This lasted for a few hours and then she began to practice writing demon characters. Dev had said she was getting rusty. Now seemed like a good time to brush up a bit.

Verse opened his eyes after six or seven hours. He sat up and groaned, rubbing his sore head. It tilted back and he watched the stars, wondering where he was.

Lilis rubbed out her markings in the dirt and looked over at Verse. "Well hello again. Are you feeling better?" She asked him softly.

"Yeah... I didn't hurt you did I!?!" He flipped around, a worried look on his face.

Lilis made her reassuring smile look very real. "I'm fine. Are you sure you're okay now?"

He nodded, "Just... I gotta go for a while." He stood and put the cloak over his head.

"It's a long walk to Crysos. We're beyond the kingdom's borders. Would you like me to drop you off somewhere closer?" She asked as she watched him.

He shook his head, "It's better if I'm away from civilization for a while, thanks." He quickly walked into the forest.

Lilis stayed for a while more. When the sun began to come up, she went to the tallest pillar again and watched it rise over the gentle hills. She sat there for a while too and then teleported back to Crysos, where she was promptly swarmed by all of the commanders, teachers, recruiters, and countless other people who wanted to talk to her. A headache immediately set in.

(Sure, but I'll be leaving in a few. My parents went swimming and I'm supposed to be doing Alg. 3 homework, which is very hard to do in the dark. I'll hope for a miracle.)
