Sol and Somnus were getting a meal at the bar. They had been traveling for days - almost a week - before seeing any signs of life. Needless to say, Crysos was a welcome relief from their traveling. Of course, the brothers were just hoping they wouldn't run into any trouble. They were in vampire territory. Sol fixed his brother with a deep look as they waited for their meal. Through the darkness of his hood, Somnus stared back. He smiled and then snickered. Some things… he just wouldn’t ever start, especially with his brother. Tonight, he would try to stay out of trouble.

An elven warrior balanced a mug on his Norse-like nose. His cheeks were slightly pink with drunkenness. He wasn't staggering drunk, just, a loose tongued drunk.
Ryhe hiccuped and took off the mug, looking around the bar. He yawned and rubbed his eyes. The elf had been there, drinking for a few hours while he let his wife cool off. Ryhe set his goateed chin on the counter and huffed.

Somnus had turned in time to see the trick and snickered again. Sol just watched. Drunks weren’t something he liked to concern himself with. Sol looked again at his brother. Somnus was still watching the drunk and smirk on his very visible lips.

Ryhe hiccuped and raised a hand, " An'udder Darven bweer pease..."
The bartender glanced at him, "Sir, you've had nearly thirty, don't you th-"
"I'm pain' 'an I?!" Ryhe snapped at him. The man sighed and filled another tankard, placing it beside the elf as he scowled.

Somnus laughed out loud. He found he strangest things funny. Sol didn't understand it, but he usually ended up dealing with it. He kicked his brother under the table. Somnus looked back at him and then rolled his eyes. He still had to be good. That meant no teasing, fighting, laughing, snickering, or playing pranks. Sol was a bore, but that came from always having to rescue Somnus.

Ryhe's head turned to them. He bared his teeth, then drank down the whole tankard with one go. He stood and walked over to their table, no staggering, but his only eye hung open lazily. He slammed his hands on their table, "Sum'tig funny? Boy-o?"

Somnus looked up and Sol spread his hands out on the table.
"Nothing but everything is funny to my brother." Sol said softly and watched the man. "He didn't mean anything by it. Why don't you sit. I'll get you supper or perhaps more to drink, if that pleases you."
Sol made a sharp sign with his hands at Somnus. His brother responded with one of his own. He understood.
"Sorry, but brother is right." Somnus said, his voice a little nasal. "I find many things... hysterical."

Ryhe considered his offer, then pulled up a chair. "Eh, sorry mi'self. I'm a bi' on de edge at the mo'ent. Things at home 'r gettin' hot." He smiled idiotically, "The name's Ryhe."

"Sol -" "- Somnus." The brothers said, introducing themselves as well.
"You have my apologies," Sol said, referring to his situation at his house. "So, what will you have?" He asked and called a bar maid over. "This man is on my bill tonight, all of it."

Ryhe grinned and leaned back, saying in a slurred Scottish accent, "Bacon and beer wouldn't be a bad start, eh?" He leaned back and yawned, "A simple beer dis time, please? That dwarven shit's gettin' ta me." he sat a hand on his abs as his stomach grumbled.

The bar maid nodded and walked off to the kitchen. Somnus huddled over the table and pulled out one of his throwing stars. He was bored. He and Sol had been sitting for hours after walking in and they still hadn't eaten. Somnus ran a gloved finger over one of the edges.
The maid brought a beer over and set it before Ryhe. She looked at Sol and then at his darker brother, still fully clothed from traveling. Somnus never came out of his cloak, even when he slept. The maid looked at Sol again before walking off.
"Do you live around here?" Sol asked Ryhe quietly, scanning the room before looking at him.

Ryhe swallowed the bacon he was chewing, "Generally. I can walk from home to here in a few days. I'm on Holiday from home." He put another piece of the pig thighs into his mouth and chewed, then swallowed before asking, "You two?"

"Weary and worn travelers," Somnus said in a sour tone.
"We don't fit too well anywhere." Sol said in a gentler voice. "For twelve years we lived in the middle of a forest. But after that, we were driven away and have never been able to stay anywhere since."

Ryhe drank from his mug, then set it down, looking between the two thoughtfully, "Yar know, I was a lot like ya two a fer years ago. Nuttin against muh wife er nuttin, but after I met her, we'd stayed in the same spot and I miss them travelin days. Live it out while ya can, lads, it'll be gone and you'll miss dem dirt in yar ears."

"It's not that we like traveling," Somnus said bitterly, "it's just that no one will let us find a home. They're afraid of us."
"Softly brother." Sol cautioned and Somnus growled something under his breath. "His words are true though. People fear us and they have no cause."

Ryhe smiled drunkly, "You'll find er place 'ere, laddies. Everone does. I'm ta be feared mi'self, but I found er place. Whot be yer trouble?" He took another swig.

"My brother, partially." Sol said and gave a rare smile.
Somnus laughed in response. "And partially our power. The things we can do frightens people. My behavior doesn't help much either."

Ryhe's thick brow rose, "Po'er? Lieke whot?" Ryhe's words were horribly slurred, the affect of the drinks setting in. Mind his grammar.

Sol and Somnus suddenly had a long and private conversation. In the end, Sol sighed and Somnus started to tap his throwing star on the table in agitation.
"Like," Sol began in a very soft voice, "controling people's dreams, shifting to any form we please, making people sleep, make a room go dark or very bright, and mutate objects to anything we want. They are frightened. Are you?"
"Sol, he's half drunk. How much does a drunk fear until he's sane again?"
"An honest question. I want to know."

"E'n if I waaas sober, I still won't get scared. I've been in 'ell 'n back, gents. Ta tell ya the troth... tree ain't no charm. I've seen fer worst, like, a grandfather drowning 'is grandson, I 'ent time in a torutre cha'ber fer fifteen years. I ain't sacred lads, n'er mer." He looked sadly into his empty mug, but he set it down and looked at them.

Sol smiled again, but it was nasty. "Have you ever seen what transmutation does? Have you seen what happens when it goes wrong?"
"Sol..." Somnus growled, straightening.
His brother waved him off and continued. "Do you know what it's like to never wake up from a bad dream because someone won't let you? Do you know what it's like to be blind, by light and darkness? Do you know how it feels to not be in control?" Sol stared evenly into Ryhe's eyes. His golden gaze fixed on the other man's eyes.

Ryhe sneered, "I canna wake from a nightmare at times because my own mind won't let me. I have been blind and my body has been taken over by creatures men have only dreamed of." Ryhe's cheeks were changing back to their normal color, he was sobering.

Sol quirked an eyebrow and then looked over at Somnus. Another silent conversation went on between them.
"So, we really don't scare you then?" Somnus asked slyly, leaning in on the table.
"I'm going to talk to the cooks." Sol said and got up, gliding off towards the kitchen.

Ryhe's face didn't twitch as his eye orange followed the other, then looked back to Somus, "Yes, pretty sure." He smirked, he knew there was something interesting, wether the lad tried to scare him or not, at the end of this.

Somnus laughed and sat back, flipping his star over in his hand. "Good. I should have my brother do that little trick with the iron bar. I'm sure he still has a few."
