"Wait!" Daae called after her, then whistled to Aser to come. The horse trotted by him as Daae ran after her.

“Yes?” She asked and she shifted back to her normal form. She gently felt her face and sighed. She’d have to wait until they made it back to the forest.

"Let me see." He took her face into his hands and pulled it close to his face, to see better. He stared teh wounds, "We should clean these as soon as possible."

“Which way do you want to go? We’re about half-way between the forest and the oasis. I left my medicines in the tree house.” She told him softly.

"There's some in Aser's saddle bag." Daae rummaged into it and pulled out some bottled and bandages. He looked at her, then moved Aser against the wind so no dust would blow into her wounds.

“Oh, thank you.” She said and rubbed her eye. Blood got on her finger, but her eye was fine. “I’m sorry… about throwing the rock at you. I just didn’t want you to hurt Ardis.” She mumbled an apology.

"It's alright." He gently rubbed where it hit him, then went back to cleaning. He took out a clean, white cloth and poured some alcohol on it, then dabbed the cuts. After, he put some healing ointment on them, then bandaged the spot, taping it there. Then he kissed the gauss, using a technique his ancestors used to help heal.

She winced a little at the alcohol but otherwise held still. "Thank you and I'm still very sorry." She said again and hesitated. "It'll be getting dark soon. Would you... would you mind staying the night with me?"

"Hm?" he let go of her face, "Oh, uh. Sure..." He smiled, "I'd love to."

“Thanks, but I don’t have a place for Aser to stay. If you don’t mind, either, he could spend the night with a herd near my house.” Her blood sang in her ears. She felt like she was blushing but she didn’t have the slightest idea why. The gauss felt wet and sticky against her cheek.

He smiled, "Aser will be fine. Does it hurt?" He asked when she touched the gauss.

“No, it’s okay.” She smiled a little. “Thanks though.”

“Well,” she said and looked around. “We’d better get going then.”
Nel turned and started walking. Her blush was fierce. Could it… Do I… He is cute. She thought as Adris settled on her shoulder.
~ You can still fly you know. ~
“Yes, but I want to walk for a little bit.” She said and preened his breast feathers.

Aser nudged Daae. The tracker looked back as the horse nickered and trotted after Nel. Daae blinked, then smiled as he followed too.

A movement on the sand on her right distracted Nel. She brushed Ardis from her shoulder and trotted over… finally finding what she’d been looking for. She picked up a four foot long side-winder. It coiled around and Nel rubbed its scales.

Daae blinked at her and stopped. Aser made a scared noise and trotted back, hiding behind his master.

(Do you want to finish these here or pick ‘em up over there?)
Nel chuckled. “He won’t bite you. I’ll put him down in a minute. I promise.”

(whatever you want)
Daae laughed and patted Aser, " It looks harmless enough."

(Everybody is over there… and I should start transferring my records. Is that too much trouble for you?)
Nel tapped the snake’s nose and it opened its mouth to reveal fangs. “He eats lizards, other snakes, and any small rodents he can catch.” She said and rubbed the scales some more. “He’s an unusual snake though. Feel his scales. They’re rough.”

(The thing is, this board isn't up there, no desert)
Daae walked over to see as Aser crawled behind, being carful. Daae smiled as he felt it, " It is, why's that?" He looked up at her.
(Do you not like the fact that I'm always hurting my characters?)

(Oh no! I'm fine with you hurting yours. I hurt mine too! It's fun sometimes.)
“I think it’s to help them move across the sand and to burrow under it. Keeled scales are usually on water snakes, but snakes that make burrows often have keeled scales as well.”

Daae nodded, "Fascinating. Wanna feel Aser?" He joked to the horse.
The stallion whinnied, "Not funny."

Nel set the snake down and it slithered off. “Don’t tease Aser like that. He could make you walk everywhere if he felt like it.” She said and reached to pat his nose.

Aser stuck his togue out at Daae. The elf laughed, "I was only kidding." He whistled a song as he continued their march.
