Torak nodded.
"Yea, I was. And, it took a long, long while to learn. But, I had a master teach me."

You take the prize. This is the most amazing thing I’ve encountered since I learned that I could mold and play with fire. Airen said as she felt up his arm from his wrist, working slowly. How long have you had these replacements?

"Not sure. Well, since my arm was cut off at fifteen, I'd say, about...ever since it was put on. I've had to change a few springs and wires here-and-there, but in general, it's in good shape for how old it is. Almost ten years."
Torak shrugged. Give or take a few years or so.

Airen snorted. If anything can last that long without falling apart after the third day is amazing. So if I had an accident, a legitement one, you could fix me... if I were still alive, right? She asked, looking up at him.

"If? Airen, I could bring you to life if I had an electrical current. But, I'm not sure this area has them yet."
Torak shrugged.
"But yea, I could easily fix you if something happened."

Uh-huh... What about diseases? Can you replace organs with articial ones or does the owner have to keep his own organs? She asked as she turned his arm over to look at the nerves again.

"I can replace them. I learned how to at eighteen."
Torak grinned, watched Airen move his arm around.

So, how long have you been replacing limbs, appendages, and organs? She asked and tapped on the metal. What kind of metal do you use?

"For a while. And, I use a special type of metal that doesn't rust at all."
Torak rubbed his metal arm unblinkingly.

Airen rolled her eyes. I'm serious. What kind of metal? She repeated her question, looking up at him as she ran her fingers over it. But it's good that it doesn't rust. Is it an alloy?

"Sort of an alloy. It's hard to explain, really. It's made up north, and, I have it imported."
Torak shrugged.

Uh-huh. She turned his arm over again. Do you know what they use to make it? If you don't, do you know what kind of temperatures the metal can withstand?
|
|
|
Post by Karita on Aug 19, 2006 19:59:56 GMT -5
"Not sure. But, this metal can withstand the temperature of over two hundred degrees. I haven't tested it any higher, since I don't want my nerves to singe off and deteriorate."

Can I try? I promise that I can prevent the fire from damaging any flesh, organic material, and clothing. Airen looked up at him again, hopefully.

Torak thought a moment.
"Alright, you can. I trust you."
He grinned, and waited.

Airen raised a brow and then grinned crookedly. Alright. Thanks. She said and let her hands hover over his arm. Redish-orange fire curled sluggishly over the metal, engulfing it. Red is the coolest of the flames and blue is the hottest. I can get up to two hundred easy with red.

Torak nodded, waiting silently. He didn't want to destroy her concentration, if she needed it.

Of course red takes a while to heat, so I feel like cheating. She said and the flames turned white. Second hottest flame. Can you tell if the metal is getting warm? Because I can protect your nerves and anything else I don't want to burn, but I don't want to accidentally melt your metal.

"Can't tell."
Torak replied, his nerves twitching every so often because his fingers did. Just like a normal hand.

Airen rolled her eyes. She placed her hands on his arm and heated the metal directly. It soon began to glow cherry red. Hm! High resistance to heat. That’s amazing. She said and pulled the heat out of the metal, but left it slightly warm. Just try not to stick your hand in anything hotter than white fire for too long or your hand and arm will turn cherry red and then white… then you’re going to have problems.

Torak nodded.
"Alright. Thanks, Airen."
He grinned, rubbing his robotic arm, as if he could still feel the flesh tthat had been there once.

For what? I didn’t do anything. She said, watching him for a long moment and then hugged him. And I want to thank you.

Torak smiled, and hugged her back. He stayed quiet, not wanting to ruin the moment.

Airen smiled and just held onto Torak. This was what she’d missed, the physical comfort of another, especially one that had feeling for her. Airen sighed softly and began to run her fingers through his hair.

Torak smiled at her, brushed her hair back with his hand, feeling it. It felt almost as soft as silk, and he smiled more, his robotic arm around her back.
