"Well, your learning was gentler than mine. I had masters screaming at me move this way, move that way, hold my right fist higher, keep my feet a little closer together, and any other little detail they could think of. I didn't mind so much. This was something new for me, something I never would have learned otherwise. I prefer actual weapons though... namely the present Dev gave me a few years ago." She smiled faintly. "My husband was a complete ass and I hated him. He had the femiminine stereotype ingrained into him so, to him, I was nothing more than a tool for breeding, cooking, cleaning, and helping tend the crops. I considering being turned as one of the best things to ever happen to me."

He frowned lightly, "You like the vampirism...?"

“Yes, it freed me from the idiot I was forced to marry and it allowed me many more possibilities. I got to do things I enjoyed and I learned to read, write, and do sums in the mercenary corps. Vampirism has been a positive in my life. Why?”

He looked away, "I guess we're all entitled to our own opinions... it's done terrible things for me." His face shadowed a little, his bright mood gone.

“I’m sorry.” She said, meaning it. She watched him for a minute and then smiled slyly. “You know, you provide the perfect excuse to go on a lunch break. I’ll pay. Please say yes.”

He looked back at her and grinned as well, " How could I refuse?"

“Simply, you say no, you leave, and I go back to my work. It’s easy to refuse something, but thank you.” She said with a smile and stood. “Is there someplace in particular or would you like to go back to Lorn’s?”

He shrugged, "Where ever, my dear." He bowed gently to her.

Lilis blinked in surprise and turned her head to an odd angle before shaking it and smiling. “Okay, Lorn’s place is the best place I know of to get a meal you don’t have to work for.” She replied. “You teleport?”

He blinked, "Tele.... port?" He stood dtraight, not understanding. His clan never had such powers.

Lilis chuckled. “Okay then. I’ll be nicer this time.” She said and stepped into the hallway.

He smiled, "And I'll try to not fly off the handle." He followed her smiling widely as he replaced his hood over his face.

She chuckled with a wry smile. “I didn’t mean nicer like that. I meant nicer in that I would offer my hand to you instead of just grabbing your shoulder and pulling you with me.” She chuckled again. “But I will try not to offend you again as well.”

He smiled, "Your hand flatters me, mi'lady." He trotted a little closer, smiling.

Her smiled dropped and she gave Verse a you’re-strange-what-planet-are-you-from look. “I’ll try not to flatter you again then. It’s bad for your self-esteem and health. Trust me on this one.” She said as she pulled the door up, locked it, and warded it. Afterwards, she offered her hand to Verse.

He stared at her hand, then back to her face, Note: Don't try smooth words. He hesitated, then took her hand gently in his gloved one. He jumped a little, then started feeling funny.

Lilis held his hand and teleported to the front of Lorn’s inn, diner, and secret vampire hang out. She let go of Verse’s hand. “See, nicer.” She said, pretending that her stomach didn’t have butterflies in it.

"Very much badly." He chuckled lightly, then opened the door for her.

Lilis stepped in with a polite smile to Verse. She was immediately greeted by Lorn, who thought her now frequent visits strange and flattering. She kept her face blank… but was really planning ways to torture Lorn.
“My table.” She interrupted finally.
Lorn looked flustered and then nodded. He led her and Verse back to her table. He promised to send a server out to them promptly.

"What are you doing?" She whispered to him. "You weren't like this last time. Why the sudden change?"

His face blushed a little, "Ryhe... told me to be nicer to you." He also wanted to do nice things for her.

“O-oh,” Lilis said, understanding. “I see. Thank you Verse.” She sat quickly and scooted closer to the table. What happened? A variable entered your routine. What kind of variable? Lilis stole a glance at Verse. A good one. I like him… a lot I think. He makes me feel like a teenager again.

He smiled and sat by her, doing his best to keep his fangs out of view. He hated them... but that didn't mean it had to ruin their meal together.

Lilis linked her fingers together and rested her chin on them. "You hate being a Vampire, don't you?" She asked him with a curious frown.
