Sol nodded. "That would be a good idea for you. A healing works best if you sleep afterwards."
"I'll stay up." Somnus said and pushed his brother down onto the ground. "You worked the healing, so you've gotta be tired. No arguing."
Sol just blinked but curled up on the ground anyhow.

"And it works if the HEALER sleeps too." Ryhe laid down and yawned, stretching. He stared at the sky, trying to find the motivation to sleep. He blinked, then rolled his head to the side to see if Sol was sleeping.

Sol shifted into a black panther and moved off to a rock that had been nicely warmed by the sun. He looked at Ryhe and then stretched with a huge yawn. He curled up in the sunlight on the rock and promptly went to sleep. Somnus chuckling, picking up a piece of wood while pulling out a knife. He settled in the shadows to watch over his brothers.

Ryhe smiled and rolled onto his side, closing his eye and putting an arm under his head to sleep. He drifted into sleep gently, dreaming about holding a baby girl that looked like his wife.

Somnus whittled away at the piece of wood in his hands. He had no idea what he was carving at first, but he found himself checking Sol every now and then. He was carving Sol as he slept in his panther form. Somnus grinned and continued working.

Ryhe was tossing in his sleep, rolling to one side, then to the other, then back in a minute. He started sweating and he growled. His sweet dream changed into one of his many torture memories.

Somnus was half-finished with his carving when he looked up to Ryhe. He blinked and tilted his head. He got up, setting his stuff aside, and crossed to Ryhe. He tapped his boot with the toe of his. Sol had almost slashed his throat once when he tried to shake him awake.
"Ryhe?"

Ryhe jumped and yelled, covering his ears, "I WON'T TELL YOU, YOU BASTARDS!!!" He shook violently and curled up on his side, whimpering.

Sol yowled, leaping out of his slumber. His head whipped around and then he looked at Somnus and Ryhe. He leapt off of the rock and loped over to them.
~ What... Happened!? ~
"I don't know!" Somnus cried back in distress. "He was tossing in his sleep, so I tried to wake him up! That's when he started yelling!"
Sol sat down at Ryhe's back and placed a paw on his shoulder. ~ Ryhe? What's wrong? ~

"LEAVE THEM ALONE! THEY'RE KIDS!!!! JUST FUCKING KIDS!!! AARGH!" He jumped at Sol's paw and yelled long and loud, then he calm down. He panted and opened his eyes slowly, looking at the boys. He sat up and felt his head, "Sol? Somus? Oh... sorry.."

The twins just stared at him with wide eyes. Somnus sat heavily on the ground with an 'oof!' Sol purred and rubbed his head against Ryhe.

The old elf sighed and scratched behind Sols ears, "Sorry I woke ya..." He felt bad. Just because he was scared, doesn't mean he had to deprive the healer of his sleep.

"You go on... I might not for a while." He smiled and stroked his fur. The Teran yawned and looked to Somus, "You okay?"

"I think you made my heart stop for a minute, but I'm okay." Somnus said softly and got back to his feet. "Sol's done that to me a time or two before... except with a knife."
Somnus rubbed his throat as he walked back to his shady tree. He picked up his knife and his carving. Sol stretched out on the ground next to Ryhe, purring.

Ryhe stared thoughtfully into the forest, remembering the dream he was having. It was the one he hated the most. The demons of an adventure gone wrong bleeding him while stretching his arms and legs on a bed of spikes. It was horrible and he shuddered.

Somnus whistled softly tried to finish his carving from memory. It was hard, so he came to by Ryhe and Sol. His twin was stretched out in the same position he had been on the rock. Sol fell asleep, but continued to purr softly.

Ryhe sat with his legs crossed, his elbow on his knee and his hand on his chin. The bandit thought to himself. Is there a way to rid himself of these dreams? Some kind of ritual or something? He wanted to be free and sleep normally for once through the night.

Ryhe looked at him and thought, then told him the truth, "I have been tortured many times in my life. Not only have they scarred me physically, but they have mentally as well. I dream about it a lot, it haunts me like a specter."

"Oh, so that's what bothered you." He remarked softly. "I understand. I've been beaten a few times and that caused me a bit of trauma too. Sol helped me with that, but I don't know how." Somnus' face twisted up into a grimace of distaste. "He made me drink a foul tasting tea too."

Ryhe sighed and left it. Torturing was worse than beatings. He spent days, starving in cells, months drenched in his own sweat and blood. Years in darkness. Not only did they physically torture him, but mentally. He kept mainly sane... but that's what drove the inner beast insane. The worse was the breeding cells.

"Here," Somnus said suddenly and passed something to Ryhe. It was mostly smooth and in the shape of a cat. He had finished his carving of Sol. "Have you told you're wife about it? Or anyone for that matter?"

Ryhe smiled, "Beautiful craftsmanship. I...I don't think I did... no. I've never told anyone but you. Heh, funny ain't it?" He smiled weakly to Somus.

Somnus laid back and pulled his hood over his eyes. "I meant the whole story, not just the gist of what happened. Storytelling's hard though. Sol says it helps though and it does... in a way."
