Airen began to laugh as well. Someone more interesting than you... She said slowly. Now let me think about it... No, he was a taskmaster... he droned when he talked... he liked to bet... he was involved in various scandals... he leads a nation... Hmmm... Airen continued to look thoughtful and then smiled at Torak. Someone smarter and all around better than you... Sorry, can't think of one! Do you always do this?

"Somehow embarass myself, yes. Try to get women to like some other guy, yes."
Torak sighed, his fingertips pressing against his forehead. Ryuu was grinning, glad he helped Torak embarass himself.

Airen chortled and Ekirth was grinning as well. It sounds fun, I'm sure. But doesn't that make you lonely?

"Being alone? I'm used to it. Really."
torak looked up again, back over the horizon, thinking to himself again.
Just like throwing flower petals into the wind.
He thought, his stare becoming unfocused, and into space.

Airen watched him a minute and started up a fire in her hands. She didn't do anything with it, just watched the flames move. It was one thing that never ceased to amaze her. The fire never moved the same way twice in the same place.
Being gets old in time. Airen thought as she stared into the flames. It would be nice to have one person that I could rely on all of the time.

Torak nodded.
"Same as I. But, I know one thing, I'm destined to be alone."
He sighed silently, and Ryuu turned his gaze to the fire. He watched it, his eyes moving around as the flames moved.

Why alone? Airen asked him and looked up. She turned the fire into a cobra. It slithered over to Ryuu, hood flared, and swayed before him.

Ryuu snorted at the cobra, and Torak's gaze was once more into space.
"Because, it's just simple. No girl wants a clumsy guy prone to accidents. Trust me, I have the scars to prove it."

Airen settled forward, resting her elbows on her knees. Scars have stories to tell. Can I hear them? About time I heard something new too. She said and chuckled. Are you always this pessimistic?

"Yes, I'm always like this. And, no. I'd rather not say, really."
Torak looked to Ryuu, and the dragon stared at him, wanting to hear as well.
"Besides. I'd sort of have to show you the scar for you to know what I mean. They're not pretty, I can tell you that."

Airen sighed, made sure everything was in her bag and scooted over to the edge of the roof. Well, if you're going to be a bore about it... Do you think I haven't seen something bad, ugly, gory, and utterly disgusting before? I fought in the Undead War. I saw the members of the Cult destroyed before my eyes. She scowled then and clenched her fists. And afterwards, I set all of them on fire. I set it all on fire.

"Burning flesh, to me, isn't something I like smelling. And trust me, I've happen to know what it smells like."
Torak stood up, muttering to himself.
"And, you win. I'll show."
He unbuttoned his long red shirt, just enough to show his chest, were there was a deep scar digging into the skin on the right side. On the left was metal bars having been formed together in a criss-cross, covering the same type of scar.
"The one on the right came from torture, a fire whip being lashed at me. The left was when my gun was stolen, and used against me, before I switched to smaller bullets."

Airen moved closer for a better look. She traced a fingertip over the one that was still visible. She hummed and then looked at the metal. She ran a finger over it too and sat back.
Well, you've certainly had some adventures. What did you do to make someone want to torture you?

"Well, people usually got mad when I helped them from where I came from. They think they could do everything, when they couldn't, so, I stepped in. Eventually, I got arrested falsely, and was tortured until I escaped."
Torak rebuttoned his shirt, sighing, remembering something he had hoped to forget.

They sound like very happy people. Airen remarked blandly. So how did you lose your gun then?

|
|
Post by Karita on Aug 4, 2006 17:54:05 GMT -5
"Well, I sort of didn't lose it. It's complicated. But, I foolishly fell in love with a women, and, we were planning to marry. I had less scars then, but, I still had my fair share. Well, we started to kiss, and it went farther, then when I pulled off my shirt, she screamed, grabbed my gun, and shot me. The next day, I heard she had married another man, twenty years older, just to get away from me."
Torak looked away, and Ryuu poked him with his snout, his head tilting.
"So, that's the main reason I don't let myself fall in love anymore. Because when I first had, it just came back to bite me."

Uh-huh... Well, the worst I can do is try to set you on fire. But you know, I'm not sure I would. She said and held up a finger. You make at least one person that I can find and have an intelligent conversation with. That is hard for me to find. Stupidity irritates me.

Before there was another moment of chance for Torak to lose his balance, he sat back down and nodded.
"I feel stupid everytime I remember falling in love, though. I should had known that she would be frightened."

She laughed and shrugged. Love seems to make people stupid and sometimes women moreso than men.

Torak looked back at Airen, and chuckled.
"And besides. You're not getting out of life alive, so you might as well have some fun."
He grinned, and Ryuu chirped, happy Torak was in a better mood.
"But, I guess shooting people down every day is going to be all the fun I have."

Well that puts a dark and dreary look on life. She told him, arching a brow at him. And you still think you can never have a companion if you at least cannot have love? Boy, you are negative aren't you?
|
|
|
Post by Karita on Aug 4, 2006 18:22:38 GMT -5
"Negative, yes, with reasons. Like you've heard already."
Ryuu looked at Torak again, and sighed his own way. It would be impossible to turn this guy around.

Airen picked up the fire cobra and broke it down. She made the fire bright red and smaller. She molded the fire into a rose and burned away the fire so that the rose was only warm to touch, like Ryuu, and glowed softly. Airen sighed and set the rose beside Torak before standing and looking into the garden.
Well, I hope you're happy in your loneliness. She muttered and jumped over the edge.

Torak looked to where Airen jumped over, and ryuu bit him on the ear again, knowing what he was thinking.
"Geeze, fine! You win. I know, tell her."
He told the dragon, rubbing his ear, jumping down as well. He landed on his feet in a crouched position, then pushed himself up with his hands.
"Airen, wait!"
He called, rushing after her.

Airen stopped and turned back to Torak. She kept her emotions carefully masked as she watched him. Ekirth swoped down to her shoulder again. He'd left when she'd jumped.
